Appeal ruling reportedly goes against Rambus

  LONDON — Memory chip design company Rambus Inc. suffered a negative ruling in an ongoing legal battle with German chip maker Infineon Technologies AG, according to a Dow Jones report.

On Wednesday (Aug. 18), the U.S. Court of Appeals upheld a Virginia court judge's decision that Rambus must turn over documents it had claimed were protected by attorney-client privilege, the report said.

Infineon and several other DRAM makers are battling Rambus in court over licensed memory interface technology (see story).

The report quotes John Danforth, general counsel at Rambus, as saying the ruling widens the scope of the trial, and that Rambus is considering its next move.
