Alphawave Joins TSMC IP Alliance Program
Toronto, Ontario, CANADA and Hsinchu, TAIWAN — April 23, 2019 — Alphawave IP, a leading provider of multi-standard connectivity IP solutions for electronic devices, today announced that it has joined the TSMC (NYSE: TSM) IP Alliance Program. The IP Alliance Program, one of five Alliance programs comprising the TSMC Open Innovation Platform®, includes major and leading IP companies, providing the semiconductor industry’s largest catalog of silicon-verified, production-proven and foundry-specific intellectual property (IP). As an IP Alliance member, Alphawave’s multi-standard Serializer-Deserializer (MSS) and multi-standard Radio (MSR) technologies are made available on TSMC’s 7nm process for MSS IPs and on 28nm for MSR IPs.
“We’re pleased to collaborate with TSMC and join the prestigious TSMC IP Alliance program with our leading multi-standard connectivity IP solutions available on TSMC’s advanced process,” said Tony Pialis, President and CEO of Alphawave. “Our collaboration with TSMC will benefit our mutual customers with TSMC’s industry-leading process technology and all of Alphawave technology across our entire product portfolio.”
“The TSMC Open Innovation Platform® initiative is a comprehensive design technology infrastructure that encompasses all critical IC implementation areas to reduce design barriers and improve first-time silicon success, ,” said Suk Lee, TSMC senior director, Design Infrastructure Management Division. “The addition of Alphawave’s differentiated and advanced multi-standard connectivity IP solutions to TSMC’s IP portfolios on 7nm and other process technologies will enable our mutual customers to capture more growth opportunities.”
Alphawave is focused exclusively on multi-standard connectivity silicon IP solutions for electronic devices. Its multi-standard SERDES solutions were first made available in 7nm to customers earlier this year, and have been developed concurrently with an Internet-of-Things (IOT) focused multi-standard Radio (MSR) portfolio that will be launched later in 2019. Both the MSS and MSR portfolios leverage a common innovative DSP-based architecture that was developed by Alphawave in 2017.
