MindTree unfolds Verification Productivity Tool

Bangalore, INDIA --  Aug 28, 2009 -- For an IP which does not have a legacy verification environment, building an environment takes a lot of time and effort. Re-usability, flexibility, scalability and less time to verify its functionality makes it even more challenging for a Verification engineer. System Verilog VMM Methodology provides a platform to build a robust verification environment. However, it is seen that the coding style of basic structure of most of the VMM components is common as per VMM Guidelines, which accounts for 20-30% of the total verification time. MindTree’s VMM Template Code Generator (TCG) automates the creation of VMM based verification environment framework.

The VMM Template Code Generator is a user-friendly accelerator tool which automates the complete flow, right from the creation of the Directory structure, customization & building of the VMM components, provision of Template Configuration Protocols, creation of the necessary scripts and finally delivering a Compile Clean VMM environment.

The benefits of VMM TCG are multifarious. The files created are fully VMM Compliant and customized to the RTL inputs provided by the user. This reduces the overhead in debugging the connectivity and instantiation of the various VMM components. VMM- TCG provides the user an option to create and integrate the protocol checker file from a range of standard protocols like AHB, APB, AXI, OCP etc. The tool also creates the necessary compilation and simulation scripts with appropriate switches enabling mixed language (VHDL, Verilog & System Verilog files) simulation.

To summate, VMM TCG enables a full-fledged, robust, flexible and compile clean VMM environment creation in a short span of time, increasing the overall productivity             by 30-40%.
