Time Magazine chose Hantro on its annual 50 hottest technology companies list
Oulu, Finland - May 28, 2002. Hantro Products was the only Finnish company that Time-magazine chose on its 50 hottest European technology companies list. The list, published now for the third time, is based on interviews done with venture capitalists, industry experts, and entrepreneurs. The focus in the interviews has been in identifying the European technology firms with the most innovative products and services as well as the most promising business models. Time has concentrated on finding companies with the greatest future potential, not present hype. In addition to Hantro, the list includes companies such as SAP, Symbian, and ARM. The list is divided into specific industry sectors such as biotechnology, semiconductors, optics, and wireless technology. Hantro is one of the selected 12 European wireless companies.

Hantro was chosen on Time-magazine's list, because its business concept was considered as very promising. Hantro develops wireless video solutions for hardware and semiconductor manufacturers. The company's clients' products are e.g. cellular phones, PDA's as well as digital, video and PC cameras, and microchips that are used in these products. But the possibilities for Hantro's MPEG-4 standard -based video coding technology reach far beyond than that. The technology can be utilized also in other applications than wireless solutions. Wireless hardware equipped with Hantro's technology isn't dependable on 3G networks. The technology can also be used by wireless devices in 2,5 and other networks.
"The fact that Time chose us on its Hot Company list shows confidence in Hantro's technology and also embraces the fact that wireless video technology is one of the largest future growth areas within mobile computing," says Eero Kaikkonen, CEO of Hantro Products. "The most important criteria for entering the Hot Company list was future potential. We also believe that our success within the industry's up-to-date solutions was important. Being chosen in this group, strengthens our belief in the business model we have chosen."
