Spreadtrum Standardizes on Synopsys ZeBu Server Emulation System for Advanced Mobile SoCs
Delivers Industry's Fastest Emulation Performance and Scalability
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 28, 2017 -- Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS) today announced that Spreadtrum has standardized on Synopsys ZeBu® Server-3 as its emulation solution for advanced mobile SoCs. With its high performance, scalability and integration with Synopsys' Virtualizer™ virtual prototyping solution, ZeBu Server delivered 40-minute Android boot and 5 MHz emulation performance, enabling Spreadtrum to achieve faster time to market for its latest mobile SoC platform.
"Spreadtrum develops the industry's leading mobile chipsets, such as our recent single chip solution for medium and premium smartphones," said Bravo Lee, AVP of Marketing at Spreadtrum. "We standardized on ZeBu Server because of its high performance and ability to speed-up our mobile SoC verification, software bring-up and validation processes by three months."
Synopsys ZeBu Server-3 delivers the industry's highest performance emulation solution, enabling Spreadtrum to achieve faster verification and earlier software bring-up for its portfolio of ARM® and x86 processor-based SoCs and LTE modems. Spreadtrum speeds validation of its designs by interfacing ZeBu Server with both an LTE signaling tester (base station simulator) and a software-based LTE base station. This also enables Spreadtrum to extend test coverage for complex use scenarios such as testing LTE modem data link activity while Android applications are running on the SoC.
"We see growing demand for high-performance emulation systems to facilitate expansion of SoC software and verification teams across multiple design segments," said Rohit Vora, vice president of engineering for the Synopsys Verification Group. "The significant R&D investments Synopsys has made in emulation over the past few years enable our customers to reduce time-to-market of advanced SoCs by months."
