SafeNet Provides NEC Solutions America with SoftRemote Client for Wireless Security
BALTIMORE, MD – August 5, 2002 – SafeNet (Nasdaq: SFNT), a leading provider of Internet security technology that is the de facto standard in the VPN industry, today announced that NEC Solutions America, has licensed SafeNet’s leading VPN remote access client, SoftRemote®. NEC Solutions America will resell SoftRemote to its customers for wireless LAN (WLAN), 802.11, and handheld security applications.
NEC Solutions America chose SafeNet SoftRemote because it provides the best security for "always on" connections—offering users security for internal WLAN security. SoftRemote offers the most complete security since it is bundled with a personal firewall, constantly protecting users who are inside a corporate WLAN, as well as those who access wireless points remotely from various locations.
"SoftRemote offers complete IPSec compliance, 802.11 security, and a personal firewall for 'always on' security support. NEC is confident with SafeNet's security technology to help protect our enterprise customers with necessary software to secure their mobile products," said Larry Miller, vice president and general manager for NEC Solutions (America) Inc., Mobile Solutions Division.
SoftRemote VPN software is the industry leading secure remote access product on the market today. An IPSec encryption, authentication, and personal firewall client software that secures client-to-gateway or client-to-client communications, SoftRemote has been licensed by industry leading companies including Cisco Systems, RSA Security, WorldCom, Netscreen, and WatchGuard. Built with SafeNet's widely deployed SecureIP Technology™, SoftRemote is distributed in a variety of forms including SoftRemotePDA™ for the Palm OS, and SoftRemoteLT, a streamlined version of SoftRemote.
"We are very pleased to add NEC Solutions America to the list of industry leading companies who have chosen SoftRemote to answer the growing remote access security needs of their customers," said Anthony Caputo, Chairman and CEO of SafeNet. "NEC is a leading provider of mobile solutions for the enterprise and now will add industry standard security by distributing SecureIP Technology to their customer base."
