QualCore Logic Adds Line of Temperature Measurement IP to Portfolio; Analog Cores Used to Measure Internal Temperature of ICs
Analog Cores Used to Measure Internal Temperature of ICs
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--July 17, 2006--QualCore Logic, a leading provider of digital, mixed-signal and analog intellectual property (IP) for system-on-chip (SoC) designs, today said that it has added a line of temperature measurement IP cores to its product portfolio.
The QCRTS3-13T is a temperature measurement circuit that can be used to measure the internal temperature of an integrated circuit (IC). It can also be used to measure the temperature of off-chip devices using either a diode or a transistor. The cell provides an analog output voltage that is proportional to absolute temperature. It is designed in the 0.13 micron (um) 1.2v/3.3v process.
The QCRTS5-13T is a similar cell that offers additional features of integrating a 10 bit ADC into the cell along with an internal temperature sensing diode. The 4-channel QCRTS5-13T is silicon proven and is available in the 0.13um 1.2v/2.5v process.
Finally, the QCRTS3-09T, a temperature monitoring cell with an integrated 10-bit ADC, is available in the 90nm 1.2v/2.5v process. This cell contains one internal temperature sensing channel and 3 additional remote temperature sensing channels.
"Having an integrated temperature monitor allows the chip to reduce the clock speed automatically when the temperature of the chip becomes too high," remarks Tirumal Annamaneni, QualCore Logic's director of mixed-signal engineering. "The temperature monitor may also be used to control a remote fan in order to reduce the heat inside the enclosure where the chip resides. Our customers are using these temperature monitors in microprocessors and graphic chip applications."
QualCore Logic will be an exhibitor at the 43rd Design Automation Conference (DAC) July 24-27 at San Francisco's Moscone Center in Booth #3316.
