Dolphin integration unveils a new Virtual Component for power metering

Meylan, France – September 13, 2010. Power metering is a key function in smart grids, enabling a precise control of power consumption for ecological and economical matters. It requires a high resolution ADC with a sensitivity between 15 and 20 bits for targeting classes from 0.1 to 1, and ranges from 1/500 to 1/10,000.

Dolphin Integration, leader in high resolution audio converters for Silicon IP, launches a new Analog Front-End, embedding all the analog functions for a single-phase power-meter: the current path, the voltage path with programmable PGA, the tampering detection path, and the voltage reference is offered as an option. This AFE is targeting first TSMC 0.18 um process but can be easily migrated towards other foundries and processes.

This Virtual Component can be enriched with state-of-art products from Dolphin Integration – memories, microcontrollers, DC-DC converters, etc. - in order to acquire a complete system optimized for the customer needs. It ensures silicon costs reduction, power consumption optimization guaranteeing the best and quicker return on investment for the targeted SoC.
