PerfectVIPs Offers First PCI Express 3.0 VIP with UVM Support

PerfectVIPs provides verification reuse and scalability from block to system level

June 22, 2011 -- Santa Clara, CA -- PerfectVIPs, a leading provider of Verification IP (VIP) solutions, today announced support for Universal Verification Methodology based (UVM) PCI Express ® (PCIe ®) 3.0 Verification IP (Genie-PCIe3). With the introduction of UVM support, the Genie-PCIe3 VIP will help designers accelerate their verification of PCIe protocol based products and allow them to take advantage of the value that UVM brings such as the creation of a sophisticated functional verification environment, the reuse of verification components at the block and system level and support for constrained random stimulus generation.

PerfectVIPs has always been a strong supporter of standardizing the verification IP ecosystem with support for previous verification methodologies such as VMM and OVM. With the recent introduction of UVM, PerfectVIPs has quickly adopted it for its most recent release of the Genie-PCIe3 VIP supporting the PCIe 3.0 specification. With the introduction of these new tools, we are able to support multiple simulators, use the proven libraries provided and scale from block level to system level verification, helping designers develop the Perfect Chip.

"With the rapid adoption of the new PCIe 3.0 protocol in more and more systems, we welcome the effort of our PCI-SIG ® members like PerfectVIPs in providing their PCIe protocol verification tools and expertise," said Al Yanes, Chairman and President, PCI-SIG, "As the specification changes and evolves, companies such as PerfectVIPs will help ensure that designers can quickly adapt to the changes."

Genie-PCIe3 is a mature VIP solution that has evolved with the specification and been adopted by several IP and semiconductor companies. It features a complete set of intelligent verification components to verify PCIe 3.0/2.1/1.1 based designs. It contains an advanced and easy to use Verification Engine that can be used to create the most complex test scenarios with minimal work due to the numerous intelligent APIs, Errors and Knobs functions provided, which would otherwise be a difficult and tedious task with others. The Transaction Generator within the Engine allows for constrained random features to allow engineers to generate all possible system level transactions along with error capability. The Interface Inspector provides for extensive monitoring and checking derived from a line by line inspection of the PCIe protocol specification, flagging any violations in the design during simulation.

"We are proud to be the first to provide a UVM compliant VIP for the PCIe 3.0 specification - providing verification engineers with a highly configurable and customizable verification solution" said Kevin K. Yee, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at PerfectVIPs. "UVM aligns perfectly with our product strategy as PerfectVIPs has focused solely on building the most easy to use, powerful and flexible VIP solutions in the market. UVM is just another tool to provide our customers with the verification tools they need to succeed in their chip development."
