Modelware Announces Availability of CSIX-NPSI SmartBridge™ for Interoperability of Network Processors and Switch Fabrics
- Modelware, a leading provider of Semiconductor Intellectual Property (SIP) for telecom and networking applications, today announced the availability of the CSIX-NPSI SmartBridge that enables the interoperability of Network Processors and Switch Fabrics using the NPSI and CSIX interface standards. The CSIX-NPSI SmartBridge provides bi-directional interface and protocol translation between the CSIX-L1 and the NPSI interfaces.
The CSIX-NPSI SmartBridge is a result of close cooperation between Modelware and Teradiant Networks (San Jose, CA). “Teradiant created a sophisticated multi-vendor system environment that allowed us to demonstrate that the CSIX-NPSI SmartBridge interoperates successfully with both CSIX and NPSI devices.” said Anthony Dalleggio, Modelware’s VP of Marketing.
“Partnering with Modelware allowed Teradiant to interface its 20Gbps Traffic Manager with CSIX switch fabrics;” said Subhash Bal, VP of Marketing and Sales for Teradiant. “Modelware’s expertise and excellent support helped make this project a great success.”
The CSIX-NPSI SmartBridge can be implemented in ASICs or FPGAs and will be demonstrated at Teradiant’s booth, #215, at NPC West 2003 in an application bridging Teradiant’s TeraPacket TN8450 Traffic Manager and CSIX switch fabrics from multiple vendors. NPC West takes place in San Jose, California, October 21-23, 2003. For more information, visit www.networkprocessors.com.
About the CSIX-NPSI SmartBridge
The CSIX-NPSI SmartBridge automatically decodes and translates each type of datagram (unicast and multicast) between CSIX and NPSI for both ingress and egress directions at wire speed and supports the optional CSIX L2 header. The bridge also translates flow control messages (unicast, multicast, and class) for both directions and handles the link level flow control on both the CSIX and NPSI interfaces automatically. The bridge’s modular architecture allows the easy addition of application-specific packet processing.
