Microdul Adopts Advanced Mixed-signal Solution from DOLPHIN Integration and Tanner EDA and Leads Regional User Group to Drive Continued Innovation
MONROVIA, California and MEYLAN, France - January 10, 2011 -- Microdul AG– a specialist for high quality semiconductors and micro-systems assembly – has adopted an integrated mixed-signal flow from Dolphin Integration and Tanner EDA. The solution brings together HiPer Silicon, Tanner EDA's analog design suite, with SMASH, Dolphin Integration's logic and mixed-signal simulator, to provide an affordable and innovative mixed-signal EDA flow that operates smoothly from design capture to verification. Microdul benefits from a state-of-the-art design flow that ensures compatibility with several foundries' PDKs.
Coupling an easy-to-use schematic editor and a single kernel mixed-signal simulator supporting major modeling languages (Spice, C, Verilog, Verilog-A(MS), VHDL-AMS) with a layout editor and physical verification engine, this complete solution increases logic and mixed-signal designers’ productivity by providing natively mixed and multi-level simulation with innovative features for analog and logic design defect detection. For ultimate ease of use, the mixed-signal simulations in SMASH can be directly driven and configured from Tanner EDA’s schematic capture tool, S-Edit.
Microdul is focused on medical devices, sensors, energy harvesting, timing and temperature applications. Microdul is the first user to benefit from this new complete HiPer Silicon / SMASH CAD flow. “We have been using SMASH for several years and are happy that it is now integrated into the HiPer Silicon design flow. We are using this flow for mixed-signal designs. It is important to our success that we can design top-down with a mixed-signal approach,” said Phil Poole, director semiconductors at Microdul AG. “We have created a Dolphin-Tanner Swiss User Group to share our experience with like-minded companies. Sales and support teams from both Tanner EDA and Dolphin Integration are working closely with us to further streamline the design process.”

About Tanner EDA
Tanner EDA provides a complete line of software solutions that drive innovation for the design, layout and verification of analog and mixed-signal (A/MS) integrated circuits (ICs) and MEMS. Customers are creating breakthrough applications in areas such as power management, displays and imaging, automotive, consumer electronics, life sciences, and RF devices. A low learning curve, high interoperability, and a powerful user interface improve design team productivity and enable a low total cost of ownership (TCO). Capability and performance are matched by low support requirements and high support capability as well as an ecosystem of partners that bring advanced capabilities to A/MS designs.
Founded in 1988, Tanner EDA solutions deliver just the right mixture of features, functionality and usability. The company has shipped over 33,000 licenses of its software to more than 5,000 customers in 67 countries.
About DOLPHIN Integration SA
Dolphin Integration's EDA Solutions currently star a hierarchical schematic editor - SLED -, with its mixed-signal simulator - SMASH - along with its extension for power consumption analysis - SCROOGE.
The bundling of the schematic editor SLED and its mixed-signal simulator SMASH into SLASH provides the perfect front-end solution for designing logic and mixed-signal Silicon IP, as well as integrating Systems-on-Chips. As a point product, SLASH brings added value to standard design flows and empowers EDA flows. It delivers innovative features which enable efficient detection of logic and mixed-signal flaws, easing debug while tuning the speed versus accuracy trade-offs.
Model library EMBLEM, Case-study Technical Packages and free tutorials are available with these EDA Solutions to ease the acquaintance with multi-level modeling, so necessary for present days' design and debug.
Founded in 1985, Dolphin Integration is also the provider of low-power Silicon IPs (libraries of standard cells and memories, audio and measurement converters, power regulators...) thanks to SLASH. Such block-busting EDA Solutions deliver the needed flexibility in terms of multi-domain and multi-level modeling, up to the simulation of Virtual Application Boards (VAB) overcoming the boundaries of IC and PCB, to optimize complete subsystem performances.
