High-Level Synthesis Software from Forte Design Systems Adopted by LG
Forte's Cynthesizer Selected for Next-Generation DTV Design Project
SAN JOSE, CALIF. -- May 15, 2013 -- Forte Design Systemsâ¢, the #1 provider of software to enable design at a higher level of abstraction, today announced that LG Electronics (www.lg.com) of Seoul, Korea, has adopted Cynthesizer⢠SystemC high-level synthesis (HLS) for its next-generation digital television (DTV) design project.
Cynthesizer has been deployed within LG's System Integrated Circuit (IC), DTV System on Chip (SoC) Development Department. LG selected Cynthesizer after evaluating a range of HLS software because of its notable productivity improvements, including faster turnaround time and better quality of results (QoR) over handwritten code. Also cited was Cynthesizer's ability to reduce power consumption in the design.
"While our department only recently began deploying Forte's Cynthesizer, we're seeing immediate productivity improvements and reduced development time," remarks Dr. Jin-Gyeong Kim, research fellow, DTV SoC Development Department, SIC Lab at LG Electronics. "We're confident we selected the right vendor for our needs."
"LG has distinguished itself as a leading provider of consumer electronics products and appliances," adds Brett Cline, Forte's vice president of marketing and sales. "We're pleased to be working alongside some of the most innovative designers working in this field today."
Cynthesizer is the first high-level design solution that closes the gap between electronic system level (ESL) design and register transfer level (RTL)-to-GDSII flows. It provides a complete design environment that includes behavioral synthesis and verification as well as FPGA prototyping and design management. It generates production-quality RTL code using a high-level SystemC-transaction level modeling (TLM) design description as input. Cynthesizer provides an open and customizable environment based on standard languages and application programming interfaces (APIs).
