Former Graphcore VP Tom Wilson joins QuantWare as VP of Business Development
September 10, 2025 -- QuantWare is delighted to welcome Tom Wilson as VP of Business Development. With over three decades of experience in semiconductor products across a range of classical compute applications, Tom has a history of helping disruptive technologies win market share in processing applications and bringing new technologies into wide adoption. As former VP at Graphcore, a leading company in the development of AI processors, and Chief Commercial Officer at Paragraf, a pioneer in graphene-based electronic devices, Tom has proven expertise in building new market categories and scaling cutting-edge technologies. His extensive experience will be invaluable in driving QuantWare’s growth as the company enters a decisive phase.
“At QuantWare, we are building a high performance team with some of the best talent in the world.” says QuantWare CEO Matthijs Rijlaarsdam. “As we approach the moment of VIO powered processors that can run revenue generating applications, we continue to extend our relationships with the quantum hyperscalers of tomorrow. With Tom, we expand our executive team with a world-class operator to drive this effort even further.”
“I believe quantum compute is the next frontier, with the potential to become an enormous industry. It is now at a major inflection point in application development and adoption, given it can reach critical mass in quantum compute performance which QuantWare is uniquely ready to enable.” says Tom Wilson. “QuantWare is a rocketship with a technology that can solve the industry’s most critical scalability challenges. I’m thrilled to join this exceptional team and lead the commercial charge.”
The quantum industry enters a decisive phase: moving from scientific milestones to commercial deployment. Success will depend less on lab benchmarks and more on solving the commercial challenges of scale and industrial viability. With the addition of a seasoned commercial leader like Tom Wilson, QuantWare is building the team required to make VIO the industry’s de facto scaling technology and ensure we deliver the world’s most powerful quantum processors at scale.
About QuantWare
QuantWare is building the world’s most powerful quantum processors, and is today the highest-volume supplier of quantum processor units (QPUs) worldwide, with customers in more than 20 countries. Its unique VIO 3D scaling architecture is the only technology that unlocks MegaQubit-scale, ultra-high-speed quantum processors, delivering exponentially more performance per Watt per dollar invested. VIO paves the way for the hyper-scale quantum computers that will solve humanity's greatest challenges. The company was founded in 2021 by quantum computing experts Matt Rijlaarsdam and Alessandro Bruno as a spin-out from QuTech, a globally-leading quantum computing research institute, part of TU Delft in the Netherlands. The company has won multiple awards, including the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Rising Star award in 2024.
