ChipIdea announces the availability of an IP Demonstration board for Dual Mode UMTS/GSM Baseband AFE

TagusPark-Porto Salvo, Portugal – 24 May 2004

- ChipIdea Microelectrónica, S.A., a leading analog and mixed-signal IP and SOC solutions provider, announces the availability of an IP demonstration board for the evaluation of CI7185oa, a Dual Mode UMTS/GSM Baseband AFE.

This board allows the efficient evaluation of the IP without the need of expensive test equipment.

The board architecture comprises a general-purpose Baseband IP DEMO platform and a daughter board (piggy-back) containing the IP core under evaluation. The unit that controls the operation of the IP core is implemented in an FPGA, thus making the evaluation system highly flexible.
The communication between the control unit and the IP core is done via a serial link between a PC and the demo board using the DAVCOM software module written in JAVA™. The DAVCOM module uses configuration files to control the many different IP cells contained in the macro IP core and to initiate the test sequences. There is a configuration file for each IP and test modes available. The DAVCOM module is delivered with the demo board.
