CAST Joins LSI Logic RapidChip Platform ASIC IP Partner Program
— Semiconductor intellectual property (IP) provider CAST, Inc. today announced it has joined LSI Logic’s RapidChip® Partner IP Program and is now delivering IP cores optimized for this fast-growing Platform ASIC technology.
"With RapidChip Platform ASICs, LSI Logic is delivering the tools, methodology, and implementation technology designers need to hit a new sweet spot between custom ASICs and standard FPGAs,” said Hal Barbour, president of CAST. “For a dozen years CAST IP has helped the same wide range of designers finish better designs faster, and we’re excited to continue this trend with our new RapidChip technology IP cores.”
All of CAST’s 100+ popular and standards-based IP cores will be available for implementation with RapidChip technology. The first RapidChip Partner IP cores include an 80515-compatible processor, JPEG encoder, decoder, and codec cores, and a frequently-used synchronous 16550 UART. See www.cast-inc.com for information on all the company’s cores.
“Offering CAST’s IP in the Partner IP program enables our performance-hungry customers to achieve cost-effective, ASIC-like throughput in RapidChip implementations while continuing to use familiar IP," said Harmel Sangha, director, CoreWare IP Marketing, LSI Logic Corporation. "We welcome CAST to the growing community of RapidChip IP partners. CAST’s portfolio of IP solutions is highly complementary to the wide range of markets served by RapidChip platform ASIC technology.” See www.lsilogic.com/rapidchip for information.
