BaySand expands its "Programmable-In-ASIC" initiative with Efinix Quantum programmable accelerator technology
SAN JOSE, Calif. and SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Jan. 8, 2018 – BaySand Inc., the leader in configurable Standard Cell ASIC solutions, today announced a partnership with Efinix to deliver Efinix’s Quantum programmable accelerator technology in BaySand’s ASIC/SoC platform, with optional design service.
BaySand’s Metal Configurable Standard Cell (MCSC) delivers the Power-Performance-Area attribute that is close to a full standard cell, while reducing the mask cost and time to market for customers’ designs.
Efinix’s Quantum programmable technology delivers a 4X Power-Performance-Area advantage over traditional programmable technologies. This disruptive advantage enables Efinix’s silicon products to compete in high-growth markets such as custom logic, deep learning, and compute acceleration.
“Time-to-market and rapidly changing market landscape has compressed the ASIC engineering cycle,” said Salah Werfelli, BaySand’s CEO. , “By combining the Quantum programmable technology with our innovative ASIC technology and ASIC design service capability, we can deliver IC products to our clients at optimal cost and performance. This allows them to refine their designs while increasing revenue, and staying ahead of the competition.”
“It’s exciting to see BaySand expand its ASIC development services to a number of fast growing markets,” said Sammy Cheung, co-founder, CEO, and president of Efinix. “Our Quantum programmable technology on BaySand ASIC will offer a new breed of programmable chips that can fulfil emerging system requirements that cannot be satisfied by traditional FPGA, nor standard ASIC.”
The BaySand Design Center offers experienced, multi-discipline engineering teams, with expertise in wireless, video and IoT hardware and associated algorithms. BaySand offers a complete ASIC development service, IP and ASIC solutions. Initially the Efinix Quantum technology will be made available to customers in Fujitsu 40nm and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) 40nm processes. This expands BaySand’s “Programmable-In-ASIC” portfolio significantly.
