Actel and Gaisler Research Soar With RTAX-S Aerospace Microprocessing Platform
Partnership Extends Access to Proven IP Cores, Development Boards and Support
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Sept. 18, 2006 -- To speed time to market and reduce design costs and risks for system design, Actel Corporation (Nasdaq: ACTL) today announced the availability of the Gaisler Research Intellectual Property (IP) Library (GRLIB), a LEON3 processor-based application solution optimized for Actel's RTAX-S field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The companies have also expanded their long-standing relationship with the addition of Gaisler to Actel's CompanionCore Partner Program, a program designed to offer a broad range of proven IP cores and solutions to Actel's FPGA customers. As a program member, Gaisler will offer Actel customers IP cores, design and development boards and development support.
The Gaisler GRLIB solution includes simulators, software development tools, either a fault-tolerant or non-fault-tolerant version of the 32-bit LEON3 SPARC V8-compliant processor and two IP cores that are new for Actel customers -- a Spacewire Codec and the Gaisler Research Floating Point Unit (FPU). To complement the solution, Actel offers Core1553 and CorePCIF IP cores from its DirectCore portfolio.
"Our customers have long valued our relationship with Gaisler because of their design expertise, proven IP products and development boards," said Ian Land, senior manager, system applications and IP product marketing at Actel. "The addition of Gaisler as a CompanionCore partner will further enhance our customers' ability to use RTAX-S based processing platforms for their aerospace designs."
"The security and high-reliability of Actel's market-leading RTAX-S FPGAs combined with the LEON3 processor-based application solution represents an ideal offering for Actel and Gaisler customers," said Per Danielsson, CEO of Gaisler Research. "We are pleased to continue this strong partnership with Actel by joining the CompanionCore Partner Program, and look forward to supporting Actel's global customers."
In addition to Actel's RTAX-S radiation-tolerant FPGAs, Gaisler's solutions also support Actel's ProASIC3, Fusion Programmable System Chip and new low-power IGLOO device families.
