Silvus Technologies Announces Commercial Availability of 802.11n PHY IP Solution
LOS ANGELES, CA-- March 3, 2008
-- Silvus Technologies, a leading wireless design services provider and commercial supplier of semiconductor Intellectual Property (IP) solutions for complex wireless applications, today announced the commercial release of its 802.11n PHY IP solution. The Silvus 802.11n PHY IP solution is a licensable and synthesizable HDL implementation of the IEEE Standard 802.11n Draft 2.0 Edition.
The IEEE 802.11n standard specifies the Physical Layer Entity for a higher data rate extension in the ISM band, which builds on the 802.11a/g standard and utilizes Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) in conjunction with multi-antenna MIMO (multi-input, multi-output) techniques to achieve higher data rates. Applications include SoC designs supporting 802.11n interfaces, Wireless LAN NIC (Stations), Wireless LAN access points and bridges, residential gateways, and wireless HD video products with Wireless LAN connectivity.
"For the past three years Silvus has been at the forefront of introducing MIMO-OFDM IP-based solutions into military tactical communication systems," said Babak Daneshrad, chairman, president and CEO of Silvus Technologies. "DARPA's selection of Silvus as the sole performer on a multi-million, multi-year contract for Mobile Network MIMO is a testament to our strength in this area of the industry and our experience in providing enhanced wireless capabilities. We are pleased to incorporate these advanced features into our commercial 802.11n IP solutions."
