SMIC 0.13um 5v-3.3v/1.2v Battery Charger

Overview

Based on SMIC 0.13µm 3.3v/1.2v Logic process, current design of the Battery Charger IP is a complete constant current/constant voltage linear charger for single cell lithium-ion and lithium-polymer battery designed to work within the USB power specification. It presets 4.2V Charge Voltage with +/-1% Accuracy. The Battery Charger IP terminates the charging process when the charge current drops by 10% or 5% (programmable) of the programmed value after the final float voltage is reached. Due to the internal MOSFET architecture, no external sense resistor or external blocking diode is required. Thermal feedback regulates the charge current to limit the die temperature during high power operation or high ambient temperature conditions. When the input supply is removed, the Battery Charger enacts voltage regulator from the battery in power up mode, or drains less than 2uA from the battery in power down mode.
