SafeNet SafeXcel Security Processors Receive FIPS Certification
Company’s 68th NIST Certification is Tops in Industry
SafeNet, Inc. (NASDAQ: SFNT), setting the standard for information security, today announced that its entire line of SafeXcel™ security processors has received FIPS Cryptographic Module Validation from the U.S. Government’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). With 68 FIPS certifications for a variety of products and solutions, SafeNet now holds the most NIST certifications for FIPS cryptographic product validations in the industry.
FIPS Certifications Required by Customers
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has published the Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) Publication to define Security Requirements for Cryptographic Modules. By regulation, all U.S. Government Agencies are required to use security solutions that are FIPS validated. The NIST standards are also affecting commercial requirements as well—many organizations in the private sector are now requiring their security solutions to be FIPS 140-1 or 140-2 validated. These validations give SafeNet a competitive edge over other vendors since FIPS 140-1 and 140-2 certifications are quickly becoming a requirement in many environments.
SafeNet Holds the Most NIST Certifications in the Industry
The new award is SafeNet’s 68th NIST certification—significantly more than any other company.
