Nazomi Licenses Sun Microsystems' Java Wireless Technology for its Universal Acceleration Solutions for Java Platforms
CLDC and MIDP incorporated with Nazomi's JA108 Acceleration Chip to enable high- volume deployment of high-performance Java multimedia phones and consumer devices
SANTA CLARA, Calif.- July 8, 2002 -Nazomi Communications, Inc., a pioneer in universal and scalable solutions for boosting the performance of software running on the Java™ Platform, announced today that it has licensed Sun Microsystems' (Nasdaq: SUNW) Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) and Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP). The CLDC and MIDP are part of the Java™ 2 Platform, Micro Edition J2ME™ platform, a scaled down version of the Java platform that is targeted for use in smaller footprint mobile and consumer products.
The agreement will give Nazomi access to Sun's Java technology that Nazomi will incorporate into its current JA108 Universal Acceleration chip for Java architectures and multimedia, and in its JSTAR and JSMART acceleration technologies. Nazomi's JA108, JSTAR and JSMART solutions are optimized for mobile wireless and such environments where performance, power consumption, cost, size and time to market are critical success factors.
