MediaTek Licenses Memoir's Multiport Memories

New memory IP brings design flexibility and breakthrough performance to cutting-edge SOCs

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- November 20, 2013—Memoir Systems Inc., announced today that MediaTek, the fourth largest fabless semiconductor company in the world, has licensed Memoir's Renaissance multiport memory IP. A market leader and pioneer in cutting-edge SOC system solutions for wireless communications, high-definition TV, optical storage, DVD and Blu-ray products, MediaTek will gain design flexibility and breakthrough memory performance with multiport functionality.

"MediaTek did a thorough evaluation before selecting Memoir, and we are pleased that we exceeded their expectations. MediaTek's extensive product line will benefit from the flexibility that our multiport memories offer and will be positioned to remain in the forefront in the future," said Sundar Iyer, Memoir Systems' co-founder and CEO.

By building upon existing physical libraries, Memoir's Renaissance family of multiport memories reduces risk associated with traditional circuit based memories while dramatically improving memory performance, power and die area. Renaissance 2X, 4X, and 10X memories enable system-on-chip architects to configure memory performance to their application requirements. Memoir's IP eliminates the need to build custom multiport memories, reducing area and power requirements by up to 60% compared to physical multiport implementations alone and increasing multiport memory clocks speed up to 30%. Renaissance memories are exhaustively formally verified, and no further silicon verification is required. The memories use a standard SRAM interface, and integrate into a normal ASIC, ASSP, or SOC design flow. For more information contact sales@memoir-systems.com
