Kilopass Anti-Fuse NVM OTP IP Designed into Montage Technology Next Generation Set-Top Box Chips Targeting Emerging Market Environments
Kilopass’ Anti-Fuse NVM OTP IP Provides HDMI and Conditional Access Security Keys Hack-Resistance Storage for Ultimate Protection of Content and Network Access
San Jose, Calif., December 5, 2017–– Kilopass Technology Inc., the leading provider of semiconductor logic anti-fuse one-time programmable (OTP) non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP), today announced that its high capacity OTP NVM is designed into Montage Technology Group Limited’s next generation set-top box chips, targeting emerging market environments with challenging operating conditions. Kilopass’ Anti-Fuse NVM OTP IP provides HDMI and conditional access security keys hack-resistance storage for ultimate protection of content and network access.
“Montage provides comprehensive solutions for the home entertainment market to address the rapidly growing demand for standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) televisions in emerging markets,” said Mr. Gene Liu, General Manager of Montage LZ Co. LTD. “We have developed a wide range of highly integrated, multi-standard compliant semiconductor solutions with customized software and support for set-top boxes. Kilopass anti-fuse OTP memory provides us the secure storage our customers demand to ensure their content is protected and only the rightful subscriber is granted access to that content.”
“We are thrilled that Montage Technology has selected our NVM OTP IP for storage of the highly sensitive security keys,” said Kilopass Vice President and General Manager of OTP Division, Linh Hong. “Our bit cell is highly resistant to passive hacking techniques including using current profiles to determine the word pattern; because the bitcell current for “0”s and “1”s are much smaller than the current required for sensing or to operate the peripheral circuits in order to read the memory. One cannot determine the pattern of the word being read. Invasive techniques including backside attacks or SEM passive voltage contrast are also unsuccessful because it is very difficult to isolate the bit cell since it is connected in a cross-point array.”
About the Set Top Box Market
Citing figures from the report “Set Top Box Market: Global Industry Analysis (2012 – 2016) and Opportunity Assessment (2017–2027)” published by Future Market Insights, market research firm informitv declared, “The global set-top box market is projected to grow by 7.5 percent a year over the next decade. Estimated to be worth over $22 billion in 2017, it is forecast to reach $46 billion in 2027. According to this forecast, the role of the set-top box is likely to remain central to the pay-television industry, whether it is through conventional cable and satellite or over telco or broadband networks. The Asia Pacific region, excluding Japan, is the largest single market, estimated to be worth over $6.5 billion in 2017 and forecast to rise to nearly $10 billion in 2027.”
