Bluespec High-Level Synthesis Toolset is Selected by Panasonic
Deployed for the High-Level Design and Verification of System LSI
Waltham, Mass. – March 25, 2010 - Bluespec, Inc. announced today that the Bluespec® high-level synthesis toolset for the development of system-on-a-chip (SoC) designs has been selected by Panasonic Corporation’s Strategic Semiconductor Development Center. It will be used for the high-level design and verification of System LSI such as their UniPhier (Universal Platform for High-Quality Image Enhancing Revolution) platform, which targets digital consumer electronics applications like mobile and home audio-video. Bluespec is supported in Japan by Cybernet Systems Co., Ltd.
“Bluespec’s central contribution is the introduction of a powerful, unique and innovative language. Though fully internalizing the core concept was a challenge initially, once mastered, the benefits met our expectations," said Satoru Fujikawa, Director of Strategic Semiconductor Development Center at Panasonic Corporation. “When applied to our company’s System LSI development, we expect Bluespec to deliver the same or better results than existing RTL, while letting designers think and work at a higher level.”
“The evaluation by Panasonic highlights Bluespec’s unique technology for complex control, making it the only general purpose high-level synthesis solution for modeling, verification and implementation," said Charlie Hauck, chief executive officer of Bluespec, Inc. "We are honored that such a leading technology company has selected Bluespec high-level synthesis for its system-on-a-chip designs, including the cutting edge UniPhier platform.”

About Bluespec
Bluespec provides the only general-purpose, high-level synthesis toolset for any use model (models, testbenches, production IP) and design type (datapath, control, interconnect). Models and testbenches can be synthesized along with legacy IP to leverage emulation much earlier in the development cycle. Users get better chips to market sooner by developing software in parallel and validating architectures well before tapeout. Bluespec is the only synthesis tool built on atomic transactions, proven technology for managing and simplifying large-scale hardware concurrency.
