GDA Technologies announces availability of Dual G4 cPCI Single Board Computer
-- GDA Technologies, Inc., a fast growing supplier of Electronic Design Services (EDS), today announced the release of its Dual G4 based Single Board Computer (SBC), an industry standard 6U cPCI form-factor board for value-added resellers, system integrators and OEMs.
The Dual G4 cPCI Single Board Computer is designed around two tightly coupled G4 Power PC Processors (MPC 7457 at 1.2GHz) from Freescale Semiconductor and a Discovery III system controller from Marvell Technology. The system controller supports DDR SDRAM at 333 MHz, Flash Memory, two PCI interfaces, Copper and Fiber Gigabit Ethernet Interfaces and a serial interface. In addition, the board provides a PMC interface, an I2C interface for monitoring the board and CPU temperatures and a JTAG interface for testability.
This fully hot swappable, Dual G4 board can act as a system controller or an intelligent peripheral board, with the help of the PCI to PCI bridge provided on the platform, in a variety of plug and play applications in telecommunication, enterprise networking and Internet infrastructure systems. This cost-effective solution will allow system developers and OEMs to quickly launch products such as high end fire walls, deep packet classification, security/intrusion detection, Ipv4 and Ipv6 management, Billing systems, VPN servers and Instrumentation.
“GDA has enabled several standard form factor processor engines and line interface cards. It owns reference designs built around today’s leading communication and network processors that include Motorola’s Power PC, PowerQUICC II and III integrated processors, Intel’s IXP2400 and 2800 Network Process and NetSilicon’s Net+50 processor. GDA portfolio solves our customer needs, which include the need for higher compute power and distributed computing and the need for standard form factors and high speed interconnect,” said Gopa Periyadan, Vice President, System and Software Design Services Business Unit.
Along with the hardware, GDA provides Flash based firmware and board support packages for Embedded Linux. Support for other Operating Systems will be available in the first quarter of 2005.
“GDA is making strong investments in applications and product designs using high end processor technologies and industry standard form factors to allow our customers to shorten their time-to-market. Our current embedded design portfolio spans across different standards like Advanced TCA, AMC, PMC, cPCI form factors using industry leading CPUs and NPUs. GDA will continue to invest in such industry standard form factor designs,” said Manik Bahri, Marketing Manager, System and Software Design Business Unit.
