Dongbu Electronics Adds ARM Metro Low-Power Library To Design Support Portfolio
SEOUL, South Korea-- December 13, 2006
--Dongbu Electronics today announced the latest addition to its expanding portfolio of design support resources, namely the ARM® Metro™ low-power high-density standard cell library for chips designed at the 0.18-micron node. The ARM Metro library, part of its Artisan® physical IP family, is ideally suited to support system-on-chip (SoC) designs targeting mobile handset and portable consumer applications and is offered to Dongbu’s foundry customers at no charge via the ARM website.
The ARM Metro standard cell library enables a significant reduction of power of up to 25 percent for active and inactive devices, thereby extending battery life in mobile phones and portable media players. Moreover, the newly added library to Dongbu’s design support portfolio deploys standard cells that are approximately 20 percent smaller than those offered in the ARM SAGE-X™ standard cell library. As a result, chips designed with the ARM-based Dongbu low-power high-density library yield more chips per wafer while boosting price competitiveness.
“Dongbu’s continuing strategy to offer advanced processes and design support solutions to meet requirements for mobile and portable consumer applications aligns with ARM’s commitment to provide silicon-proven IP that addresses critical power requirements for SoC designs,” said Brent Dichter, general manager, Physical IP, ARM. “Continuing our relationship with Dongbu provides our mutual customers with an optimized implementation solution on Dongbu’s 0.18-micron process that can enable shortened design time and accelerate differentiated products to market.”
“Today’s announcement underscores Dongbu’s commitment to provide best-in-class design support for low-power SoC solutions targeting mobile handset and portable consumer applications,” said Dr. Jae Song, EVP of Dongbu. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration with ARM to expand further our design support for low-power chip solutions.”
Availability
The ARM Metro standard cell library is immediately available for licensed customers to download at no charge via the ARM website at www.arm.com.
