Lithe Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet Switching IP

Overview

The Lithe Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet Switching IP is a comprehensive solution for building scalable and efficient network infrastructures. Designed to operate at the data link layer of the OSI model, our Lithe Layer 2 IP offers advanced networking capabilities for local area networks (LANs), metropolitan area networks (MANs), and wide area networks (WANs). With support for various networking protocols and features, our Lithe IP enables seamless connectivity, reliable data transmission, and efficient network management.

The Lithe IP is available as a pure software implementation that supports processor architectures like X86, ARM and RISC and can be ported to OS like Linux, Windows, Android, and MAC/iOS.

The Lithe IP is also available as synthesisable Encrypted/unencrypted RTL, as per IEEE 1735P standard, that can be built as a soft block for logic implementation into a FPGA device with control software configuration running on an accompanying ARM or RISC processor or microcontroller. It is also tailored to fit an SOC FPGA device with inbuilt hardened ARM or RISC V cores.

Key Features

  • Ethernet Protocol Support: Implements the Ethernet standard (IEEE 802.3) for reliable data transmission over wired and wireless networks.
  • VLAN (Virtual LAN) Support: Facilitates network segmentation and isolation by dividing a single physical network into multiple logical segments.
  • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP): Ensures loopfree topology and redundancy in network designs to prevent broadcast storms and network failures.
  • Link Aggregation (LAG): Combines multiple physical links into a single logical link to increase bandwidth and provide fault tolerance.
  • Quality of Service (QoS): Prioritizes network traffic based on predefined criteria to ensure optimal performance for critical applications.
  • Traffic Filtering and Forwarding: Implements access control lists (ACLs) and packet filtering rules to control traffic flow and enforce security policies.
  • MAC Address Learning and Forwarding: Dynamically learns and maintains MAC address tables to forward traffic efficiently within the network.
  • Ethernet Ring Protection (ERP): Provides fast protection and recovery mechanisms for Ethernet ring topologies to minimize service disruptions.
  • Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS): Extends LAN connectivity across a wide area network using MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) technology.
  • Ethernet OAM (Operations, Administration, and Maintenance): Monitors and manaLithe Ethernet networks, detecting faults and performance degradation for proactive maintenance.

Benefits

  • Scalability: Supports scalable network designs and accommodates growing bandwidth requirements.
  • Reliability: Ensures high availability and fault tolerance through redundancy and protocol mechanisms.
  • Performance: Optimizes network performance for diverse traffic types and applications.
  • Security: Implements security features to protect against unauthorized access and network attacks.
  • Interoperability: Compatible with industry-standard networking protocols and devices for seamless ntegration.
  • Manageability: Facilitates efficient network management and troubleshooting with comprehensive monitoring and control features.
