Arasan Chip Systems further expands its Ethernet portfolio by adding AVB (Audio Video Bridging)
AVB enhances the quality of audio/video streaming in consumer electronics applications.
San Jose, California â Dec 10, 2012 - Arasan Chip Systems, Inc. (âArasanâ), a leading provider of Total IP Solutions, announced today that they have added AVB (Audio Video Bridging) to their Gigabit Ethernet MAC product family. The new Gigabit Ethernet MAC with AVB enables the transmission of audio and video streams synchronized within a microsecond of each other, with low delay, and with minimal lost data due to network congestion.
An AVB network implements a set of protocols developed by the IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging Task Group. There are four significant differences between the AVB MAC and standard 802 architectures; precise synchronization, traffic shaping for media streams, admission controls, and identification of non-participating devices. This feature set enables efficient use of Ethernet networks for audio and video and entertainment applications.
Arasan Chip Systems has been shipping Ethernet IP for more than 3 years. The complete portfolio of Ethernet products includes Fast (10/100) Mbps, Gigabit (10/100/1000) Mbps and 10 Gigabit Ethernet IP. The AVB Ethernet MAC joins the portfolio alongside standard Ethernet MACs as well as those that support IEEE 1588. The high quality IP has completed the rigorous interoperability tests at UNH-IOL laboratories and has been widely licensed. To enable designers to speed their time to market, Arasan also provides a portable Ethernet driver.
