Lantiq Successfully Closes Acquisition of WLAN Assets and Intellectual Property from Metalink

Munich/Neubiberg, Germany – February 15, 2010 – Lantiq, a leading company in next-generation access and home networking technologies, today announced the closing of its second acquisition. Lantiq acquired WLAN-(Wireless Local Area Network) related assets and intellectual property (IP) from Israel-based Metalink Ltd., a leading provider of high performance wireless communication silicon solutions with the capability to deliver HD video streams over the 802.11n standard.

The deal includes patents, technology, and more than 50 engineers in the Middle East and Asia who will continue to drive innovation in the WLAN market. Also, Lantiq has established a new WLAN-related technical competence center in Yakum, Israel, as part of this acquisition.

“This is a major leap forward for Lantiq as we finalize our second acquisition in our first three months as a stand-alone company and complement our existing products with Metalink’s technology,” said Christian Wolff, CEO of Lantiq. “The addition of Metalink’s ideas, products, and talent rounds Lantiq’s portfolio with the industry’s most advanced WLAN offering to give our customers a resource for the best technology for the digital home.”

Lantiq is a leader in the Access Network and CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) markets, and through this acquisition, it will broaden its presence in the digital home with the strengthening of its wireless portfolio.

Lantiq will integrate the technology in its existing roadmap and future products. In addition to reference designs, first ICs produced in 65nanometer process technology are already sampling and will be available for mass production in spring 2010.
