Silicon & Software Systems (S3) Announces 90nm CMOS IP Licensing Agreement for Mobile TV Applications
– Silicon & Software Systems Ltd (S3), a leading supplier of licensable mixed signal solutions, today announced that Abilis Systems, a Kudelski Group (SWX:KUD) company, has licensed S3's low power ADC IP in 90nm CMOS process. Abilis will incorporate S3’s analog-digital converter IP into its first generation single-chip mobile TV applications.
Abilis Systems is the first fabless semiconductor company to propose a single-chip mobile TV solution, integrating both the RF tuner and the demodulator on a 90nm RF CMOS process. Such a device ideally meets the requirements of the cellular phone, portable media player and laptop PC markets.
"S3 is a world leading provider of mixed signal IP with a proven track record in advanced CMOS processes,” said Alain Duret, Abilis chief technology officer. “We chose S3 to provide us with a low power converter solution because of their extensive experience, highly skilled team and their ability to meet our highly challenging objectives in a very tight timeframe. With this agreement, we can integrate best-in-class ADCs in our SoCs, while focusing our resources on our core expertise, namely RF CMOS front-ends and multi-core DSP architectures."
"S3's comprehensive portfolio of mixed-signal IP and design solutions delivers power-efficient single-chip systems for clients developing SoCs at the 90nm and 65nm technology nodes,” said Mike Murray, S3 Mixed-Signal IP Business Manager. “Abilis is an innovative leader for single chip mobile TV solutions, which are ideal applications for S3's 90nm IP.”
S3 delivers world-class innovation in IP integration to reduce design risk and accelerate time-to-revenue for its global client base. The company’s high performance solutions are particularly suited to DVB-H, T, S, WiMAX and WiLAN applications.
