Abilis Systems' ARC-Based Mobile TV Solution Is World's Smallest DVB-H/T Receiver

MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, BARCELONA, Spain, February 13, 2008 – ARC International (LSE: ARK) today announced that Abilis Systems, a Kudelski Group company, is using ARC technology in the world’s smallest digital mobile TV receiver for DVB-H/T applications.  The new AS-101 is produced in a 5mm x 5mm CSP package and integrates multi-band RF tuner, advanced OFDM demodulator, memory and interfaces onto a single 90nm CMOS die, with the receiver performance surpassing the MBRAI 2 and Nordig 1.0.3 specifications.  This is part of a series of ARC customer announcements made today focused on the high-growth Mobile TV market.  See related announcements dated February 13, 2008 from ARC International.

ARC’s configurable cores enable us to build a powerful solution that addresses multiple Mobile TV markets and multiple standards,” explained Eric Gouze, head of business development at Abilis Systems. “Furthermore, we can integrate the entire digital TV receiver into a single antenna-to-digital chip, thus reducing design and production costs and lowering overall power consumption of the system.”

“The three announcements today from customers targeting the Mobile TV market reflects ARC’s strategy of enabling customers to deliver an enhanced user experience to consumers in high volume applications,” said Bill Jackson, vice president of marketing at ARC.  “Consumers are unimpressed by technology but willingly pay for features that enhance their multimedia experience.  Along with ubiquitous connectivity via WiFi and WiMAX hot spots, transportable content in flash memory, Mobile TV represents one of the most promising unit volume growth markets as consumers continue to drive OEMs for devices that allow them continuous multimedia content access anytime and anywhere.”
