D2 Technologies Delivers Expanded VoIP Support for ARM Microprocessors
Enables OEMs and ODMs to easily power new feature-rich VoIP-enabled devices using ARM11™ multi-core processors
SANTA BARBARA, CA – August 21, 2007 — D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded software platforms that power IP communications and a member of the ARM Connected Community, today announced expanded support for ARM processors, including integration with the ARM11™ MPCore™ multicore processor. This support enables OEMs and ODMs to utilize ARM processors with D2’s embedded vPort VoIP software to easily create and power new, multi-functional converged communications devices that use high-speed broadband interfaces such as VDSL2/ADSL2+, FTTH/GPON or WiMAX. The vPort VoIP software solution running on an ARM11 processor core will be demonstrated at the Embedded Systems Conference Taiwan August 23-24, 2007 at the Taipei International Convention Center in the ARM booth (#1F05).
“The ARM11 MPCore multicore processor architecture is a powerful, high performance multi-core platform that many of our OEM and ODM customers rely on to ensure product performance,” said Doug Makishima, vice president of marketing and sales at D2 Technologies. “By boosting vPort’s support for the ARM11 MPCore multiprocessor, we make it easier for manufacturers to meet today’s customer demand for increased VoIP functionality in new mobile handsets and communications equipment.”
D2’s vPort family of products are proven on a number of ARM processor architectures including the ARM11 MPCore processor to support VoIP applications such as xDSL triple play gateways, FTTH integrated access devices (IADs), WiMAX gateways, IP phones, and VoWi-Fi (VoWLAN) handsets and Dual-Mode FMC VoIP handsets. D2’s POSIX compliant and flexible implementation can take advantage of the advanced functionality of the ARM11 MPCore processor to deliver a power efficient, performance optimized and scalable VoIP solution.
“D2’s vPort software delivers a broad set of VoIP features and device functionality, enabling OEMs and ODM customers to more quickly bring compelling communication solutions to market,” said John Goodacre, multiprocessing program manager, ARM.
About D2’s vPort Product
D2's vPort embedded VoIP software enables manufacturers to rapidly deliver the latest IP communications devices by ensuring that networking, signaling and voice processing functions execute as an integrated solution on a single processor. This not only speeds time to market by simplifying the design, it also improves performance and drives down costs for the latest multi-mode converged devices.
vPort provides manufacturers with advanced VoIP telephony capabilities such as protocol signaling, soft DSP voice algorithm processing and advanced voice quality assurance including jitter buffer and packet loss compensation. The platform’s multi-protocol capability provides simultaneous support for traditional SIP-based VoIP and the latest VoIM services such as PC-based IM/P2P voice applications Skype, GoogleTalk, Yahoo! and MSN.
