Analogix Denies All Charges in Lawsuit Filed by Silicon Image
SANTA CLARA, Calif., February 8, 2007 – Last week, Silicon Image, Inc. filed a lawsuit against Analogix Semiconductor, Inc. in federal court in California. Analogix denies all allegations of wrongdoing. Analogix has great respect for the intellectual property rights of others and has always taken appropriate steps to prevent any misappropriation. Analogix has been successfully delivering its transmitter and receiver architectures since 2003 and is a licensed adopter in good standing of HDMI Licensing LLC. Analogix thus has all the necessary intellectual property rights to manufacture and sell its products, including the products that are named in the suit.
The complaint is very limited in its scope and identifies only two of Analogix products - the ANX9011 and ANX9021 receivers and associated configuration software. Both of those receivers employ version 1.2 of the HDMI specification. Silicon Image’s lawsuit does not challenge any other Analogix HDMI products or its DisplayPort™ technology or products.
Silicon Image’s decision to file suit appears to be designed to instill unwarranted fear, uncertainty and doubt about one of its competitors. Silicon Image’s filing does not detail the basis of its claims. The complaint is based largely on the fact that Analogix products are pin- and footprint-compatible with Silicon Image implementations. It is also based on the inaccurate claim that Analogix products are “drop in replaceable” with Silicon Image products.
Analogix is disappointed that Silicon Image has chosen to use the courts to further its anti-competitive campaign. Analogix is not under any court order prohibiting it from manufacturing, shipping, exporting, importing, licensing or sub-licensing the ANX9011 or ANX9021 components or any other Analogix product. Also, there is no order prohibiting Analogix’s customers from using the components named in the suit or any other Analogix product. Analogix will continue to serve customers with integrity and provide high quality products.
