Alma Technologies announces the immediate availability of its new 12-bit Extended JPEG Decoder Core
Pikermi, Athens, February 20, 2014 − Alma Technologies has extended its JPEG IP core range by offering a 12-bit Extended JPEG decoder. With this addition a complete low-complexity solution for compression/decompression in 8 or 12 bits per sample is now available. The Extended JPEG IP core range is suitable for applications demanding higher image dynamic range such as machine vision, medical or automotive imaging and high-end image compression.
Building on our successful Baseline JPEG product line, the new Extended JPEG decoder − JPEG-D-X − provides high performance in a conservative footprint. The JPEG-D-X core is capable of decoding images compressed either in Baseline or Extended JPEG format, in 8 or 12 bits per sample precision, while supporting all popular chroma sampling formats. The JPEG-D-X core is remarkably easy to operate and gets self-programmed through standard JPEG stream markers. Ready to decode compressed images right out of the box, using simple and comprehensive input/output interfaces.
