Xilinx Adopts Synplicity's Synplify Pro for PCI IP Development
SUNNYVALE, Calif. & SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 2001--Synplicity Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, and Xilinx Inc. (Nasdaq: XLNX), the world's leading supplier of programmable logic devices, today announced that Xilinx has selected Synplicity's Synplify Pro(TM) product as its synthesis tool of choice for the internal development of Xilinx® PCI intellectual property (IP). Xilinx design teams will use the Synplify Pro software to help develop the company's advanced LogiCORE(TM) products, with emphasis on its PCI products. Additionally, the companies have signed a marketing and technology development agreement to jointly develop a Synplicity®-based design flow that will be optimized to provide the best quality of results for designers implementing PCI LogiCORE IP into their designs. The combination of the two companies' technologies will enable the design of programmable SoCs, such as the Xilinx Platform FPGA.
``We have a longstanding relationship with Synplicity, and have been impressed with the quality and performance provided by the Synplicity synthesis technology,'' said Mike Frazier, director of engineering for IP solutions at Xilinx. ``Incorporating Synplicity's Synplify Pro software into our PCI LogiCORE IP development process will enable Xilinx to continue to deliver extremely high-performance cores to our customers. Additionally, as we optimize the design flow for IP implementation, we expect our mutual customers to see substantial improvement in the design time and overall quality of their designs.''
``As we continue to target the programmable SoC market, it makes sense to partner with a leading programmable logic and IP vendor to develop optimized products for designers working in this area,'' said Joe Gianelli, director of channel marketing at Synplicity. ``We are pleased that Xilinx selected our Synplify Pro software for its LogiCORE product development. As we embark on our joint development efforts, we believe the combination of our two technologies will ease and improve the IP implementation process for our mutual customers.''
