Newracom Successfully Communicates with Wi-Fi HaLow, IEEE 802.11ah at a Distance Greater than 1 km

Irvine, CA -- June 3, 2016 – Newracom, Inc. proudly announces that it has achieved to connect and establish communication at distance greater than 1 km the company’s IEEE 802.11ah SoC, NRC7191 technology. The field test was performed at an industrial zoning area in Irvine, CA. NRC7191, is the industry’s first SoC for Wi-Fi HaLow IEEE 802.11ah.

NRC7191 baseband supports all the mandatory IEEE 802.11ah features as well as several optional features, including Target Wake Time (TWT) and Restricted Access Window (RAW).

At a distance of 1.04 km, the two test terminals stably communicated each other with NRC7191.

“We are pleased to announce that the expected range according to IEEE 802.11ah standard body has actualized with the world’s first IEEE 802.11ah SoC, and furthermore, with our technology. We see strong potential and expect that this technology is one of the dominating communications methods for the IoT world such as smart home, long range internet connectivity, and smart grid,” said Dr. Gyongsu Lee, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development.
