Mobius Microsystems Introduces the All-silicon Copernicus Clock
Detroit, Mich. – May 10, 2005 – Mobius Microsystems, Inc., a leading provider of all-silicon clocks, announces the first all-silicon clock generator to achieve a total frequency accuracy of better than ±0.25% (±2500ppm) over process, voltage, and temperature.
Mobius’ Copernicus Clock achieves an initial accuracy of better than ±0.1% and a total frequency accuracy of better than ±0.25% across an operational temperature range of -40°C to 70°C and VDD ±5% in generic submicron CMOS with no external reference or components.
“Mobius’ Copernicus Clock sets a new standard for the accuracy and stability of all-silicon clock technologies,” said Dr. Michael McCorquodale, Mobius’ chief executive and chief technical officer. “Designers will appreciate its unparalleled performance in a wide range of digital applications.”
The Copernicus Clock is a fully-integrated, high-accuracy, and low-jitter all-silicon clock that can be configured to generate multiple output frequencies from kHz to GHz with no external components. It is available as a hard macro for licensing and integration into product applications including microprocessors, microcontrollers, data communication controllers, SoCs, ASICs and ASSPs.
Utilizing a resonant LC (inductor-capacitor) reference and novel compensation techniques that can be integrated in nearly any standard CMOS process, the Copernicus Clock achieves higher total frequency accuracy than all other all-silicon clocks and most ceramic resonators across a broad operational range. However, unlike crystals and ceramic resonators, the Copernicus Clock is all-silicon making it suitable for harsh operating environments including high shock, vibration, and moisture conditions.
For prospective customers, silicon proven macros that demonstrate output frequencies up to 528MHz are available for on-site demonstration and testing. Interested designers can learn more by visiting http://www.mobiusmicro.com.
