Mentor Graphics Inventra Launches eParts IP Repository and Delivery System
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 19, 2001--Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT - news), leader in standards-based intellectual property (IP) solutions and services, today introduced the eParts® system, an integrated IP repository and delivery system powered by Mentor's QuickUse(TM) technology.
eParts allows designers to access Mentor Graphics® Inventra(TM) cores over the web through an interactive storefront, simplifying the IP selection, licensing and delivery process. The first step in this phased roll-out is the immediate availability of the company's parameterizable forward error correction (FEC) cores through the new system. FEC cores improve the signal-to-noise quality of the transmission link for satellite, wireline, cellular, cable and optical networks.
eParts leverages the QuickUse Internet-based knowledge management system to create a complete front-to-back system for storing and delivering IP. The system includes:
- IP Catalog
- IP Repository
- Automation IP Generation of Configurable Cores
- IP Delivery over the Web
- Version tracking
- Bug-report and tracking
"eParts reinforces our mission to simplify the IP selection, licensing, evaluation and delivery process for our customers," said Dr. Susheel Chandra, general manager of Mentor Graphics Inventra Intellectual Property Division. "The revamped front-end enhances the customer experience by providing a unified system for managing all elements in the IP supply chain, from IP customization to delivery."
Intellon Turns to Mentor to Streamline Customer IP Selection Experience
Intellon Corporation, based in Ocala, Florida, is the leader in high-speed powerline home connectivity for shared Internet connections, streaming digital audio and video, and network devices using existing power outlets. Intellon developed its two-piece home-networking chip set, using a variety of Mentor Graphics IP cores. The Programmable Reed Solomon encoder and decoder, and the Viterbi encoder and decoder from Mentor Graphics Inventra IP division, were downloaded via eParts, and enabled Intellon to develop its INT5130 chip set. This new chip set, endorsed by the HomePlug Alliance, delivers 14-Mbit/s data rates, forward error correction, real-time 56 DES encryption of data packets, and quality-of-service features.
"As a leader in quality IP, Mentor Graphics provided us with easy-to-use, proven IP cores for the development of our INT5130 chip set," said Christian Joly, Intellon Senior vice-president of sales and marketing, sales and applications. "Our engineering team used Mentor Graphics eParts to download and parameterize the needed Inventra IP cores easily for the chip set we developed for the HomePlug Alliance initiative. As a result, we were able to significantly shorten the development process by using Inventra's eParts library of IP cores."
