Hantro to Demonstrate High Performance Video Codec at CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas
April 4th, 2006 -- Hantro announced today the availability of a suite of video codecs for Intel Corporation’s newest processor family (codenamed Monahans) based on third generation Intel XScale® technology. Enabling fast deployment of a host of multimedia applications such as camcorder, media player, mobile TV and video conferencing, Hantro’s codecs support MPEG-4, H.263 and H.264 encoding and decoding as well as VC-1 (Microsoft WMV9) decoding up to D1 resolution in the powerful Intel XScale® technology platform.
The codecs are available as DirectShow® filters for Windows as well as for all leading mobile operating systems, they are also easily portable to proprietary real time operating systems making them an ideal choice to fulfil the requirements of a multitude of markets.
Visitors to Hantro’s booth (#3810 in Hall 3) at CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas this week will be able to see the 6100 H.264 video decoder and AAC audio decoder running on the Intel XScale® technology next generation development platform..Hantro are also showing a DVB-H compliant Mobile TV application running on commercially available PXA27x based devices. The application meets DVB-H IRD capability classes A, B and C.
“Software video coding places a high demand on the CPU” said Sami Niska, Vice President of Business Development and Partnering at Hantro “The performance of Intel’s current and next generation Xscale® processors provides an excellent platform for launching new and innovative mobile video services.”
“Hantro is one of the frontrunners in the development and optimization of video codecs for the mobile environment.” said Gary Forni, Director of Software Enabling for Intel’s Handheld Products Group. “The combination of Hantro multimedia technology and Intel’s next generation application processors is an ideal foundation for creating compelling mobile multimedia applications.”
Other products featured on the Hantro booth include the hardware implementation of a multiple-format encoder and decoder. Supporting up to D1 resolution for MPEG-4, H.263 and H.264 as well a 16MP JPEG, the 6250 encoder and 6150 decoder are designed for integration to wireless IC’s delivering maximum performance with minimal power consumption and silicon area.
Hantro will also be demonstrating the power and performance of their multimedia technology on the XScale® technology platform at the Intel Developer Forum, Taipei International Convention Centre, Taiwan April 10th and 11th.
