General Processor Technologies Joins HSA Board of Directors and Expands Licensing Geography
TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- Sept. 21, 2015 -- General Processor Technologies (GPT), a wholly owned subsidiary of China-based Hua Xia GPT, a leading licensor of processor IP for heterogeneous systems, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. C. John Glossner, CEO of GPT to the Board of Directors of the Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) Foundation. The HSA Foundation is a not-for-profit consortium dedicated to developing architecture specifications that will unlock the performance and power efficiency of parallel computing engines found in many modern devices. GPT is a promoter level member of HSA Foundation.
Dr. Glossner also serves as the chair of the HSA Domain Specific Processor working group (HDP). The HDP working group focuses on application specific processor integration within the overall HSA framework. He is also active in the Multivendor sub-working group and the Programmer's Reference Manual (PRM) working group.
Dr. Glossner is well-known for co-founding Sandbridge Technologies, a company that developed a heterogeneous SoC that included a CPU and a uniquely designed parallel multithreaded vector DSP used in the first LTE systems.
"I am excited to be working with the leadership of the HSA Foundation. HSA's vision of bringing interoperable heterogeneous computing to systems as diverse as handsets to servers has advanced the state-of-the-art in CPU, GPU, DSP and domain specific processor integration," said Dr. Glossner.
"By joining the Board of HSA, GPT is expanding its range of IP licensing offerings and extending its geographical licensing program. Historically GPT has developed IP specifically for the China market. With the company-wide adoption of HSA standards, we are now expanding our licensing worldwide. All GPT processors include HSA support and we are excited to offer world-class HSA-enabled processors to our customers," said Kerry Li, Chairman of the Board of Directors of GPT.
"We welcome GPT to the board, and very much appreciate Dr. Glossner's leadership in the HDP working group and the resultant expansion of the HSA ecosystem," said Phil Rogers, President of the HSA Foundation. "From the beginning, we expected digital signal processors and other domain specific processors to embrace HSA, and it is great to see that coming to fruition."

About the HSA Foundation
The Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) Foundation is a not-for-profit consortium for SoC IP vendors, OEMs, academia, SoC vendors, OSVs and ISVs whose goal is to make it easy to program for parallel computing. HSA members are building a heterogeneous compute ecosystem, rooted in industry standards, for combining scalar processing on the CPU with parallel processing on the GPU while enabling high bandwidth access to memory and high application performance at low power consumption. HSA defines interfaces for parallel computation utilizing CPU, GPU and other programmable and fixed function devices, and support for a diverse set of high-level programming languages, thereby creating the next foundation in general purpose computing.
