Faraday Joins Power Forward Initiative to Make Low-Power Design Easier
HSINCHU, Taiwan, and Sunnyvale, California -- Oct. 11, 2007
-- Faraday Technology Corporation, a leading silicon IP and fabless ASIC vendor, has joined the Power Forward Initiative (PFI) and plans to offer a Common Power Format (CPF)-based reference flow for its ASIC customers.
PFI, made up of more than 20 industry-leading electronics companies, was formed in May 2006 to advance the adoption of CPF, which captures essential design intent for power, enabling automation of advanced low-power design techniques consistently throughout the design, implementation and verification domains.
"Low-power design is critical for consumer, wireless and communication applications," said Lee Chu, vice president, Emerging Business Development at Faraday. "We have joined the Power Forward Initiative to extend our expertise and to support broader, industry-wide low-power efforts. Faraday has worked diligently with Cadence to provide this advanced low-power solution to our ASIC customers and expect that CPF will streamline the entire low-power design process to help customers accelerate the migration to advanced process nodes."
"Faraday, working closely with Cadence Design Systems and other Power Forward Initiative member companies, will help to accelerate the industry's advancement of low-power technologies," said Dr. Chi-Ping Hsu, corporate vice president, IC Digital and Power Forward at Cadence. "We applaud Faraday's commitment to state-of-the-art technologies and investment of resources to support the Power Forward Initiative. The worldwide momentum of the Initiative speaks to the importance of making low-power design easier at advanced technology nodes."
About Power Forward Initiative
The Power Forward Initiative, which has more than 20 member companies, is an industry initiative sponsored by Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) and has the goal of enabling the design and production of more power-efficient electronic devices. The Advisory Group consists of representative companies across the design chain from microprocessors to IP to foundries and semiconductor companies and includes four EDA companies including Cadence. CPF v1.0 was contributed by Cadence to the Si2 Low Power Coalition in December 2006 and is now available as an Si2 standard to the industry at large.
