AMD, Adeas, Nextera Video, and intoPIX Announce Cost-Optimized IPMX Solution for AV-over-IP at ISE 2026
January 28, 2026 -- AMD has partnered with Adeas, Nextera Video, and intoPIX to offer a new, cost-optimized IPMX (Internet Protocol Media Experience) virtual ASIC solution designed to help ProAV manufacturers incorporate IPMX capabilities into high-volume, compact products.
The solution utilizes a highly efficient AMD SoC loaded with a single bitfile pre-integrated with all the required IPMX IP cores from Adeas, Nextera, and intoPIX. The combined solution addresses the industry need for cost-effective and compact IPMX implementations, enabling a faster time-to-market for a new generation of truly interoperable AV devices.
Breaking the Cost Barrier for Open Standards
As the ProAV industry shifts away from proprietary ecosystems toward open standards, integrating with cost-effective, IPMX-capable hardware is crucial. This new solution leverages a special AMD Zynq™ 7000 SoC device acting as a “turnkey” IPMX-capable “chip” (virtual ASIC) available for high volume ProAV applications such as compact IP gateways in throw-down boxes, wall plates, and edge devices.
This SoC device combines IPMX IP cores from Adeas, Nextera’s NMOS Control Software, and intoPIX’s TicoXS for JPEG-XS encoding or decoding. The solution enables one channel of visually-lossless 4Kp60 444 video and audio to be transmitted or received over standard 1G/2.5G copper networks. It includes IPMX per VSF TR-10 with JPEG XS IPMX profile, NMOS including IS-11 for EDID support. Further options are available including PEP (Privacy Encryption Protocol), HDCP, and JPEG-XS with TDC mode (aka TicoXS FIP).
“This cost-optimized virtual ASIC allows OEMs with or without FPGA expertise to IPMX-Enable their products quickly and easily,” said Jed Deame, CEO of Nextera Video. “By reducing the cost and complexity of IPMX implementation, we are driving mass-market adoption where equipment manufacturers, system integrators, and end users all win.”
Powering the Next Generation of AV-over-IP
AMD FPGAs and adaptive SoCs provide the flexibility needed to implement IPMX in a wide range of AV applications. Unlike fixed-function ASICs, these devices can be customized to handle the specific requirements of an installation, such as unique video formats, custom timing requirements, or integration with legacy systems.
“The flexibility and level of performance required means programmable logic devices such as FPGAs and adaptive SoCs are ideally suited to a broad range of Pro AV applications,” said Ramesh Iyer, Senior Director, Pro AV, Broadcast & Consumer at AMD. “By partnering with the leaders in AV-over-IP cores, we are providing a streamlined path for manufacturers to adopt IPMX without compromising on cost or performance.”
The Turning Point for IPMX Adoption
A major milestone for IPMX has taken place January 19-23, 2026, where the Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), in partnership with the VSF, AMWA, and EBU, hosted the inaugural IPMX Product Testing and Certification Event in Geneva.
This event marks a major turning point for IPMX adoption, transitioning from a set of published specifications to a certifiable, deployable technology. For the first time, manufacturers will have the opportunity to complete formal certification of products built to the IPMX specifications. Products passing these rigorous tests are authorized to carry the official IPMX branding, signaling compliance with a verified set of mandatory requirements for IPMX transport and interoperability.
The official IPMX branding will provide integrators and end-users with confidence that certified IPMX products deliver reliable interoperability, predictable behavior, and adherence to the published specifications.
IPMX for Everyone
The cost-optimized solution enables mass-market adoption of IPMX open standards by reducing the cost barrier and streamlining the development process of IPMX-compatible products. The compact AMD Zynq™ 7000 family SoC is available for high volume, cost sensitive products, and pre-integrated firmware reduce complexity and accelerate time-to-market.
AMD, along with Adeas, Nextera, and intoPIX, are at the forefront of this transformation, helping to make IPMX accessible to all manufacturers and product lines.
