Vendor: StarIC Inc Category: DC/DC Converter

1.8 to 3.6V output, 0.9V to 1.8V input voltage doubler

STAR4003 is designed in a TSMC 40nm process with 3.3V tolerant devices.

Overview

STAR4003 is designed in a TSMC 40nm process with 3.3V tolerant devices. It outputs an open loop doubled voltage from the input supply.

The IP integrates two NMOS power switches and two PMOS power switches and a user configurable oscillator which is used to clock the charge pump. STAR4003 allows the user to supply a higher voltage to external components, I/O supply voltages, or flash memory. This is advantageous when the design requires several external ICs which operate from a higher voltage than the nominal input supply. The converter has a typical efficiency of 79% at a low output current of 100uA, and over 90% typical efficiency at output currents of 2mA. STAR4003 can be customized to fit different applications, whereby the size of the output stage may be optimized to meet the application's output voltage, frequency, and efficiency requirements.

Guide to Choosing the Best LDO for Your Application

To know which LDO you need, you must first define the application of your LDO and then examine which parameters are most important when dealing with that application. With the multiple parameters that characterize a particular LDO, it is not easy to determine which LDO is best suited. To help you figure this out, we have put together this reference. This guide presents a list of all the key LDO parameters along with their definitions, the most common applications of LDOs, and which parameters are critical for each.
